Set the Audio Codecs
We suggest you ONLY use the GSM, iLBC and Speex codecs.
Deselect (remove) the G711 aLaw, G711 uLaw and Broadvoice codecs as they consume way too much internet bandwidth for regular SoHo or home users.
ONLY use the High bandwidth codecs if you absolutely need them or you MUST use them in a particular environment. The BEST and most widely used codec is now G729 BUT it is used at a cost and therefore only available in purchased devices.
- Right Click in the display and select Options
- Select Advanced from the bottom of the left menu.
- Audio Codecs settings will be the next page displayed
- Deselect (remove) the G711 aLaw, G711 uLaw and Broadvoice codecs (click on the codec in the Enabled codecs window and click the <-- button)
- Select the GSM, iLBC and Speex codecs (click on the codec in the Disabled codecs window and click the --> button)
- Click OK to exit these settings and return to the phone operation

Make a Test Call to the "Member Menu"
Dial "0" on the telephone dialpad then click the green DIAL button
You should hear the "Operator" announce a voice menu. If you cannot hear the Operator voice menu then go back and check that you entered your details correctly. Otherwise visit the troubleshooting section below.
Dial "7" to perform an Echo Test. - Talk with a normal speaking volume. You should hear yourself back with a very short delay (less than half a second) This test determines a number of things. If the delay between you talking and hearing your voice back is greater than ONE second then your internet link is very poor or you have selected a SIP server (advanced setting) that is too far away. If your voice level is too loud or soft you can adjust the microphone and/or speaker volume levels. These controls and level indicators are on the left and right of the dial pad on the X-Lite.
Dial "#" to complete the Echo test.
Dial "2" from the operator menu at any time to Check Your Call Balance. An automated voice will announce your current balance to you.
Dial "8" from the operator menu to retrieve your voicemail. Enter your Internet phone account PIN number when prompted for your "Password" You can also retrieve you voicemail from your internet phone by dialling your own Web PABX (898060xxxxxx) |

Congratulations! You Can
Now Make a Real Call
Dial a friend and tell them about
mySmartFone!
Remember to make ALL your landline
and mobile calls in Full International Format.
Dial as if you are calling from another planet! ALL countries are effectively another country, including the one you are in now.
EXAMPLES:
- Dial 899 060 xxxxxx to
call their Internet Phone (direct) eg. 899060123000
- Dial 898 060 xxxxxx to call their SmartFone PABX (routed) eg. 898060123000
- Dial 61 x xxxx xxxx to call their Australian Landline (switched) eg. 61 2 8211 9162
- Dial 1 xxx xxx xxxx to call their USA Phone (landline/cell)
eg. 1 212 211 9162
To make calls to landlines and mobiles you will need a positive Call Account Balance.
If your call account balance is too low then you will need to recharge it. Visit the shop or login to your user Control Panel and click Recharge Your Call Account. Recharges may take a few hours to take effect. We suggest that you authorise an Automatic Call Account Recharge to avoid running out of call credits. |
