The SmartFone Story

First Generation :: Private Networks

Traditional Telephone Companies (Telcos) are called private networks because the end-user has limited or no access to the network infrastructure or the call routing.

Traditional Telcos solely determine what services to put onto their networks. They are responsible for developing and marketing the services. This results in a limited range of services and pricing.

Most Traditional Telcos are now offering services on Public Networks, thus transforming part of their businesses into the Second Generation. An example of such a telco is Telstra (Australia).

Second Generation :: Public Networks

The Internet is rapidly replacing the telco's own network. The Internet is a public network WITHOUT central ownership. It reaches more places and carries more information than any other network. This type of network is called a public network.

It is the Next Generation Telephone Companies (Nextgen Telcos) who determine what services to put onto the public networks. They are responsible for developing and marketing the services but they do not need to build their own networks anymore, giving them the ability to modify and deploy their services as demand requires.

As technology improves it is getting easier and easier to become a Nextgen Telco. This is a good thing since it provides a much wider variety of services. But this also means massive confusion and inefficiency, increasing the complexity in both selection and usage.

Most second generation Phone companies (landline, mobile, internet, fax, phonecards) are still ONE dimensional, supporting only ONE voice call through ONE device on ONE network. There is typically no integration between landline, mobile and internet phones. You needed a number of different (disparate) services and accounts to fulfil all your communications needs.

Managing all the different calls and bills through all those networks can be very complex and time consuming. The problem gets much worse for people or organisations with more than one set of landline, internet, mobile and internet phone numbers to manage.

Third Generation :: Personal Networks

Like a personal computer allowing the users to run their own computer applications, a Personal Network allows the user to run their own communication services.

By having their own Personal Networks, the users have a stable base to take advantage of the ever changing communication technologies. They create services from their own perspective and not from a Nextgen Telco or a Traditional Telco's perspective.

A Personal network allows the increasing complexities caused by large numbers of Nextgen Telcos to be managed properly.

All organisations and individuals have needs and wants that are unique to them and are changing from day to day. Personal networks allow users to manage their online experiences themselves, enabling their unique needs and wants to be satisfied quickly and cheaply.

Automate :: Customize :: Integrate

Personal Network Platform :: Net2MAX

Net2MAX is a Personal Network Platform on which users can build their own Personal Networks, in order to take advantage of the latest pricing and technologies of different Traditional and NextGen Telcos easily and optimally, without the normally associated complexity.

Net2MAX creates synergy between different Telcos by layering on top of the user's existing phone or internet services, allowing them to automate, customise, and integrate their communication processes... saving substantial time, money and complexity.

While other companies are still trying to understand and enter the VoIP market, SmartFone and Net2MAX has built the next generation Personal Network where you can communicate from virtually ANY voice/video/fax/text/data/SMS (etc) service to any other service... in the format of choice.

Future-Proof Your Communications...

Overview

The Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) has been the mainstay of communications for more than 100 years.

Industry gurus report that, over the next 10 years, 'regular' POTS phone systems will totally disappear and be replaced by Broadband Phone, using the hottest new internet technology, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). News

After nearly 10 years of research & development, we're proud to introduce SmartFone, your NEW, Low Cost, Global Phone Service.

And it's CHEAPER and MORE POWERFUL than a 'regular' phone account!

Built on the Internet's #1 VoIP platform, Net2MAX, SmartFone integrates the global phone systems with the Internet allowing you to actively control the whole communication process, not just talk passively on the phone.

SmartFone - The New Era in Broadband Phone

The long wait for a low cost, integrated phone and web system is over. The future is here... NOW!

With SmartFone, you no longer need to run multiple services and subscribe to multiple accounts. Whatever you can imagine you can (most likely) do it NOW... from ONE simple account!

The Way it USED to be...As the world is quickly implementing Broadband Internet (fast connection through Cable, ADSL, Wireless, Satellite etc), the cost of phone calls will soon be zero because all phone calls will eventually be transported through the internet using VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) and SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)

Analog TV, after a 60 year reign, will be totally turned off some time around 2010, in favour of the technically superior Digital Terrestrial TV. Similarly, the current (POTS/PSTN) phone system we have used for over 100 years, will be totally replaced by VoIP. It will only take a few years and you will HAVE to make the change... sooner or later... whether you want to or not. It may as well be sooner.

VoIP, like digital TV, is a 'Disruptive Technology', meaning it will totally disrupt the way things are done... totally replace the current technology... like how Polaroid disappeared over a 2 year period when digital cameras finally gave us great photos at a reasonable price.

VoIP has been around for more than 10 years but, until now, it has not been a reliable replacement for your home or business phone. Billions of dollars are now being spent transforming the global phone systems. Even homes without a computer will soon be connected to the internet and using VoIP for their phone calls.

You'll soon be able to talk as long as you want and never get charged for the calls. Only the service fee will remain (just like your cable or satellite TV service). VoIP in the News

Everything will eventually be connected to the internet. Can you remember when the internet refrigerator first appeared?

The Ultimate Communications Platform

SmartFone, our revolutionary Broadband Phone service, provides you with the ultimate platform to get FREE Global Phone Calls (with video if you wish) to friends, family & business associates. For a fraction of the price of regular calls you can still connect to others who are not (yet) on the system.

A wide range of optional web and phone modules such as fax, conferencing, messaging and information services, are all instantly configurable from a personal web page. We can provide most of the services you have previously only imagined... and some you never even thought of.

Most VoIP carriers and service providers are still only looking to sell you cheap phone calls. They have limited (if any) customization or value-added services. So why would you get a broadband phone service from such a provider then change when you find out they cannot add the additional services you need?

Join the VoIP revolution with SmartFone NOW... and you will never want to leave!

SmartFone envisioned the "Totally Connected World" and has been working for over 10 years with our selected technology partners to make it happen.

The Best VoIP Technology with the Best Integration

SmartFone has partnered with the Internet's #1 VoIP platform, Net2MAX, to develop a totally integrated global phone system.

Net2MAX is Australia's first and longest running Voice over IP (VoIP) Carrier... since 1997. For more than 10 years they have been using VoIP technology to deliver the industry's best value phone calls and defining how VoIP is deployed.

Our interface to the Net2MAX system allows you to easily manage the complexity and costs of multiple communication networks. It connects ALL your communications systems in one place, bridging between 4 different networks:

  • Traditional Phone Networks e.g. landline phones and faxes
  • Next Generation Networks (NGN) e.g. VoIP, softswitches
  • Mobile Networks e.g. SMS, MMS, WAP, iMode
  • Internet e.g. Email, Web, ICQ, MSN

You can now actively control the whole communication process, not just talk passively on the phone. The Net2MAX platform is so flexible that we can simply "snap-on" new communication technology as it becomes available.
